Quality assurance

Measured in microns, proven in documents

The process organisation of Kovinski izdelki Hrast d.o.o. complies with the guidelines of IATF 16949. We use current-generation measuring equipment capable of resolving to microns, applying both contact and non-contact methods.

Measurement

Three levels of control, chosen per part

Not every characteristic deserves the same attention. During process development we agree with the customer which dimensions are critical, and then apply the level of control that those characteristics actually require.

  • 100% control with cameras on critical parts, where a single defect could stop the customer’s production line
  • SPC analysis of measured dimensions to detect drift before it becomes scrap
  • CMM measurement of complex geometries and form tolerances
  • Non-contact optical measuring for features that a probe cannot reach

We also produce bespoke gauging for individual components — a purpose-made gauge at the machine catches a problem in seconds, where a trip to the measuring room takes a few minutes.

Quality plans

What we do on every component

We ensure full traceability from raw material to finished component, and we create dedicated component-specific quality plans.

Traceability

Every batch is traceable from the incoming bar certificate through machining, treatment and washing to the packed box.

Bespoke gauging

Component-specific gauges are designed and produced so operators can verify critical features at the machine.

Machine capability SPC

Machine and process capability studies establish that a process is stable and capable before it goes into series.

Optical measurement

Non-contact optical equipment measures features that would be deformed or unreachable by a contact probe.

FMEA & PPAP

Process FMEA, capability studies and full PPAP level 5 documentation are created when the customer requires them.

IMDS & certificates

IMDS material data entry for automotive customers, and a certificate of conformity with every single delivery.

Automotive requirements

Built for the demands of tier-1 supply

Automotive customers do not only buy a part; they buy evidence that the part will be identical in three years' time. That is what IATF 16949 exists to demonstrate.

  • Process FMEA and control plans maintained for each part number
  • Capability indices monitored across the production run
  • PPAP level 5 packages including all supporting evidence
  • IMDS entries for material composition reporting
  • Change management and customer notification for any process change
  • Certificate of conformity issued with every shipment

Questions

Quality FAQ

Which quality standards are you certified to?

IATF 16949 for automotive quality management, BS EN ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, and DIN EN ISO 14001 for environmental management. Copies are on the documents page.

Do you provide PPAP documentation?

Yes — FMEA, process capability studies and full PPAP up to level 5 when required. Tell us the required submission level at the enquiry stage so it is priced into the project.

Can you do 100% inspection?

Yes. Depending on the part and the customer requirement we offer 100% control with cameras, SPC analysis of measured dimensions and CMM measurement of complex geometries.

Is material traceability guaranteed?

Yes. We ensure full traceability from raw material to finished component, and a certificate of conformity accompanies every delivery.

Do you accept customer audits?

Yes. Customer and second-party audits are a normal part of automotive supply and we welcome them. Contact info@kovinski-izdelki.si to arrange a date.

Send us a drawing.

Tell us the part, the material and the annual volume. We will come back with a price, a lead time and an honest answer on whether it belongs on our machines.
